In 2022, the number of scheduled international passengers handled by airlines in the Philippines amounted to 9.83 million, indicating a significant increase from the total global passenger traffic in the previous year.

Number of international passengers in the Philippines in 2022, by airline

In 2022, Philippine Airlines carried the most international passengers in the Philippines, amounting to around 3.34 million. This was followed by Cebu Pacific which carried about 436 thousand international passengers. The domestic market is dominated by the Cebu Pacific group which has a 61% market share, followed by the Philippine Airlines group which has 29%, followed by AirAsia, having a 9% share.

2. Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB)
The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) is an attached agency of the Department of Transportation (DOTr). CAB is the agency of the government mandated to regulate the economic aspect of air transportation, and shall have the general supervision, control and jurisdiction over air carriers, general sales agents, cargo sales agents, and air freight forwarders. 
· The CAB regulates the economic aspect of air transportation, while CAAP, regulates the technical and operational aspects of air transportation.
